Birding blog redux

It's been a few years since I've felt the urge to blog about my birding adventures, but recently I've gotten the urge to share the birds of Illinois and my rambles around the state with the world again. Some of you may remember my old blog, Bird Ephemera, which I have decided to delete, because a lot of the tone and content of my old blog just doesn't match what I'm feeling inspired to create right now. I feel the need for a fresh start!

As for a preview of what's to come, I am currently embarked on a De Witt County Big Year, which has gotten off to a rocky start due to inclement weather and my general aversion to winter. It's March now (not that the past week has been any different from nasty old February) and I'm excited to think of more birds and balmier days just around the corner. Also, bird-wise, I haven't done too badly, as I currently have 75 species on the year list.

I am also (finally!) working on my long-promised Bird Memoir, and also a variety of bird related poetry and other creative writing. Hopefully soon I will have more to share on that front as well.

All in all, I'm glad to be back...I'm hoping to see some old friends and new faces in the process.
